Back in February, I landed my dream internship with ASHLEYlauren, the famous prom and pageant dress designer. I was so excited and could not wait for this opportunity of a lifetime. The only problem was that this internship required me to move away from my family and friends for three months. This may not seem like a long time to some, but for this small town Mississippi girl, I knew it would be a challenge.

I am now half way through the summer, living in Portland, Maine. The internship has been amazing so far. I love the atmosphere and the people that I get to work with. They are truly the best of the best. I have learned so much already and I only just got here! However, it has been difficult being all alone in a new state 24 hours away. I am living in a college dorm with two girls who I just met. They are great, btw! But I have never really been on my own before besides living 2 and a half hours away from home in my college town. I miss my family, my friends, and my boyfriend so much and that has been so hard on me. I am missing out on all of the fun summer plans they have going on and I am just going to work and then watching Netflix all night, lol! As much as I feel alone, I have to remind myself that I am not. God is with me, He is taking care of me, and He is providing for me. He is what is getting me through this lonely time. But am I surprised? He always pulls through :) On a more happy note, Portland is beautiful! The scenery here is to die for and the little beach towns are so cute. The people have been friendly and the Lobster is truly delicious! I am having fun and have made some great memories so far. I can't wait to finish out the rest of the summer and see what else I can get myself into. As hard as it's been, it has been well worth it and I know it will be an experience I will always look back on and be happy that I did it. Live life to the fullest and say "yes" to things that may seem scary. Those are the times that mold you into the person you were meant to be.

On my 24 hour drive up here, I was able to stop and see some pretty incredible sights. We made it a week and a half long trip and it was so much fun. Below are some pictures of places we went before the left me to myself, haha!
